Class Trailer and Introduction
Lesson Takeaways
Meet your instructor, illustrator and author Tom Froese
Stylization is harder than realistic drawing for many artists — but it's a learnable skill, not a special talent
The five principles of stylization form the backbone of the class: Flattening, Abstraction, Customization, Exaggeration, Singularity (FACES)
Final project: illustrate a favourite object — based on a favourite era and hobby — designed for use on a T-shirt, art print, or poster
🎨 Materials
Basic sketchbook + pencil (sufficient for most exercises)
Digital illustration tool of choice for the final project (Tom uses Procreate)
Free custom brush pack "Inky Basics" — included in class resources
📁 Files
This class includes two downloads in the Files tab: the Inky Basics Procreate brush pack used throughout the class, and a free T-shirt mockup for showcasing your final illustration.
⚠️ There is No "Class Projects" Page
This class was originally created for Skillshare and includes prompts to share your project on the "Class Projects page". This feature is currently not available on my self-hosted classes.
